More on Iconic Rivalries

My big thing at the moment is iconic rivalries...what makes for a fantastic and enduring rivalry?  History, tradition, fanfare, pageantry, trash talk - iconic rivalries have them in bucket-loads...here are a few of my recent finds:

Army vs. Navy
While certainly not the epitome of college football, this one gets the peoples' vote.  The players are real servants of the state - recently returned from the battlefield or shortly on their way.  Despite this churn, the teams make do with what they've got on the roster.  Navy has won the last 7 encounters

Harvard vs. Yale
Next comes the fight for the supremacy of the Ivy League.  It has an amazing history and plenty of needle

White Sox vs. Cubs
I've written before about this cross town rivalry...here are some interesting snippets, including a film which a fan has made to celebrate it.  It's NSFW because of all the swearing and carrying on - besides that, worth a watch.  Visit the website here:

Fueled by the so-called "Game of the Century in 1971

Red Sox vs. Yankees
