13 Plastic Bottles = 1 Hi Tech Jersey

Nike seeks to cement its lead in sustainability with its new range of  Euro 2012 jerseys which are made from recycled water bottles.  Naturally, this is a fantastic initiative but what is even more remarkable is how Nike has managed to improve on the sophistication of jersey design whilst remaining environmentally responsible.

The jersey will be worn by the 5 national teams which Nike sponsors namely Croatia, France, Netherlands, Poland and Portugal. Made using an average of 13 recycled plastic bottles per kit, shorts are created with 100% recycled polyester, while jerseys are made with at least 96% recycled polyester. Since 2010, Nike Football has used an estimated 115 million recycled plastic bottles on this project. Watch the videos below to see how.
